Last chance for broadband survey

Hays County’s broadband survey, part of a larger effort to enhance and expand local broadband access, will end this week after being extended an additional week.

The online survey was the result of a collaboration between Hays County and Connection Nation Texas, as well as the Hays County Broadband Committee: a group of county officials, city leaders, school districts, business owners, chambers of commerce, hospitals and social service organizations. By surveying Hays County residents, the study aimed to gather data about reliable broadband access in an effort to benefit the needs of current and future residents, according to the county.

Originally ending June 3, the last day to participate in the survey is now Friday, June 10.

The broadband committee said it hopes to gain insight from nine sectors deemed important: households, residents, businesses, agriculture, K-12, higher education, government, library and organizations and public safety.

All information collected is confidential and will only be used for research purposes, according to the county. Additionally, Connected Nation won’t share, sell or rent any data from the survey.

Once survey results have been gathered, Connected Nation will conduct a structured evaluation of the assessment and present recommended action plans and projects to Hays County to improve its broadband environment.
