Hometown Missions needs your help to build a Home in a Month

Home in a Month from Hometown Missions is commencing work on a communitywide project to build a home for a longtime Dripping Springs couple, Louisa (LaLa) and Roy Acosta. Their current home has no insulation, heat or air conditioning and the flooring is falling through the foundation supports. The project process to demolish and rebuild has six components: yard clearing and demolishing; pre-building walls and trusses; delivering pre-built walls and trusses to new homesite; constructing residence on-site; painting and completing finishing details; and a community celebration at the new home early October.

“We absolutely need, and depend on, volunteers for all the phases,” Drinda Pennini, Program Coordinator said. “You don’t have to be a skilled expert as there are numerous tasks for everyone who becomes involved.”

Please join Hometown Missions for a great meal and fundraiser at Torchy’s Tacos Belterra on August 19 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Bring the flyer and let Torchy’s know you are there to support Hometown Missions Home in a Month Project. Torchy’s Tacos will generously donate 15% of your net purchase to Home in a Month.

Detailed schedule information on the project is posted on the website. General yard cleanup begins August a14 and runs through October 3. Pre-build for walls and trusses is on August 28 at the Dripping Springs Presbyterian Church on RR12. Delivery of pre-built walls and trusses to the new homesite on September 3. On-site construction commences September 4 through October 5.

“If you are a Dripping Springs business or organization, we invite you to put together a group to volunteer and spend a day helping improve the lives of your neighbors,” Pennini said. “We provide snacks, drinks, lunch and a special yellow Home in a Month volunteer T-shirt.”
