Hays County COVID-19 Update as of July 21 

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – Hays County Local Health Department today reports four (4) new COVID-related fatalities, all residents of San Marcos. Three males were in their 50s, 60s and 80s; the one woman was in her 80s. All were hospitalized at the time of their deaths.

The health department also reports 25 new lab-confirmed cases. Epidemiologist Eric Schneider said there are 57 new recoveries and one (1) new hospitalization since Monday.

“COVID-19 is still spreading. We urge everyone to continue working on slowing the spread of the virus in Hays County,” Schneider said.

The County’s total of lab-confirmed cases is 4,004; of those, 3,044 are considered active. The number of individuals considered recovered is 939. The number of negative tests is 12,213. Schneider is awaiting results on 52 tests.

Hays County has had 85 total hospitalizations; 20 people are currently hospitalized. Some patients are in hospitals outside Hays County but are included in our numbers if they reside here. Likewise, an individual from another county who is in a local hospital would be accounted for in their county of residence.
