Hays County to celebrate National Night Out

The Hays County Sheriff ’s Office has invited neighborhoods throughout Hays County to join forces with thousands of communities in Texas for the 38th Annual National Night Out crime prevention event.

From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, residents in Hays County and across the state are asked to turn on outside lights and spend the evening with neighbors, law enforcement and first responders. Many neighborhoods will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, contests, youth activities and more.

This is a night to send a powerful message about neighborhood unity, crime prevention awareness, safety and law enforcement- community partnerships,” said Sheriff Gary Cutler. “Let’s show that Hays County is united and dedicated to building a safer, more caring community.”

Neighborhoods were encouraged to register in late September with the Sheriff ’s Office and/ or with the National Association of Town Watch. Check with your local law enforcement or your neighborhood coordinator to see if your neighborhood is registered.
