GSMP receives international awards in economic development excellence

The International Economic Development Council, the largest nonprofit professional association for professional economic developers in the world, recognized the Greater San Marcos Partnership with two 2022 Excellence Awards.

Awarded each year during the IEDC Annual Conference, the awards honor organizations for exemplary economic development marketing campaigns, projects, and programs. IEDC received more than 500 submissions from the United States and four additional countries around the world.

This year, GSMP took home accolades for the categories of General Purpose Website and Innovation in Economic Development Week. The awards were presented during the 2022 IEDC Annual Conference, which took place Sept. 18–21.

“We strive to have the greatest, most innovative economic development team in the country,” said Jason Giulietti, president of GSMP. “These awards, which come off our previous IEDC wins, such as EDO of the Year, truly exemplify the incredible work that our staff does for the Texas Innovation Corridor.”

“Communities need our profession now more than ever,” said IEDC President and CEO Nathan Ohle. “This year's awardees exemplify the ingenuity, leadership, and determination needed to meet the challenges of today and the future. The winners of IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development awards represent the best of economic development and demonstrate the level of leadership that our profession strives for every day.”

For General Purpose Website, GSMP launched its redesigned website in October of 2021, bringing data visualization, local narratives and user friendliness to the digital forefront of the Texas Innovation Corridor.

For Innovation in Economic Development Week, GSMP launched a week-long video campaign during Economic Development Week in May, taking a deep dive into the utilities, transportation infrastructure, workforce, quality of life and regionalism found in the Texas Innovation Corridor.

GSMP is the 501c6 regional economic development organization serving the city of San Marcos, as well as Hays and Caldwell Counties, positioning the region for a wider diversity of quality jobs with higher wages. The GSMP mission is to increase economic opportunities for all in the heart of the Texas Innovation Corridor. Learn more about GSMP at its website, greatersanmarcostx. com.
