Friends Foundation readies for 30th annual fundraiser

After a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19 and logistical hurdles, The Friends Foundation in Dripping Springs is once more holding its Online Auction and BBQ Fundraiser.

Gold tickets will be on sale Sept. 11–19 or until 100 tickets are sold, with an opportunity for the winning ticket holder to pick any feature item from the online auction. The auction itself will run Sept. 21–30, and the in-person barbecue fundraiser will take place at the Creekside Wedding and Event Venue at 18315 FM 1826 in Driftwood on Thursday, Oct. 12 from 6–9 p.m.

“This will be an evening of barbecue and all the fixings, drinks, and western swing music by the award-winning Hot Texas Swing Band, and games such as Heads or Tails and Split the Deck,” The Friends Foundation said in a release. “Parking is free and handicap parking is available. Only 300 barbecue tickets will be sold.”

The fundraiser is to help sustain programs and services for the local elderly such as Our Daily Bread, a meal delivery program; Lifeline, providing medical alert devices for seniors; and financial assistance for low-income elderly.

“Doing good deeds to meet the elderly’s needs,” the release summarized.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, all money raised at the event will be used to support The Friends Foundation’s programs and services to help improve the quality of life for seniors in the Greater Dripping Springs area.
