    Completing its second year as an elective program at Dripping Springs High School is the Guitar Ensemble, which has grown substantially since it was introduced last year. On May 16 the group held its spring concert in the DSHS Commons, performing "Coming Home," which was composed by director Charles Cavanaugh. Next year the Guitar Ensemble will begin UIL competition. DSHS Second in Lone Star Cup Standings

In the Lone Star Cup update released by the UIL May 24, Dripping Springs High School stands in second place in Conference 5A with 72 points, just ahead of Cedar Park HS (71); Highland Park is first with a healthy lead. The most recent update includes: one-act play, theatrical design, track and field, golf and tennis. DSHS claimed a total of five district championships in those activities and also qualified one team and six individual entries for state competition. Cumulatively the latest update includes team tennis, cross country, marching band, volleyball, robotics BEST, football, Congress, spirit, swimming & diving, wrestling, mariachi, film, basketball, robotics FIRST, soccer, one-act play, theatrical design, track and field, golf, and tennis.

The final update, which will include academics, baseball, and softball, will be released in June. The highest DSHS has ever finished in the Lone Star Cup was fourth, in 2017-18.
