DS Elite donates $1,000 to Sleep in Heavenly Peace

In a continuing effort of community support, Dripping Springs Elite Real Estate Professionals recently donated $1,000 to the Austinarea chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

SHP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing beds for children who are going without one. Steve Gielda, Chapter President for Sleep in Heavenly Peace, accepted the donation at DS Elite’s monthly meeting last week.

“These funds which are so generously donated will help us build more beds for kids who don’t have one in Dripping Springs,” Gielda said. “Each bed cost $250 so this means four children in Dripping Springs will get a real bed to sleep in.”

Kristen Rummel, a member of DS Elite and Austin Portfolio Real Estate agent, serves as the chair of the Charitable Giving Committee. On behalf of DS Elite, she shared her thoughts on the recent donation: 'As DS Elite members, we believe in supporting causes that make a tangible difference in our community. Sleep in Heavenly Peace is doing incredible work, and we are honored to contribute to their mission of providing comfort and security to children.'

Rummel emphasized the significance of supporting organizations like SHP, which directly address a fundamental need often taken for granted.

'For many of us, a bed is a basic necessity we never have to worry about. But for countless children in our own neighborhoods, it's a luxury they can't afford,' she said. 'By supporting SHP, we are not just providing a bed; we are offering a sense of dignity and hope to children who deserve nothing less.'

The donation from DS Elite underscores the power of collective action in creating positive change.

'Every contribution, no matter how big or small, has the potential to make a profound impact,” Rummel continued. “Together, we can ensure that every child in our community has a safe and comfortable place to rest their head at night.'

Giving back to the community is one of the core principles of Dripping Springs Elite Real Estate Professionals. The group’s mission is to not only serve the needs of clients in real estate but also focus attention and funds on local organizations that build the local Dripping Springs community.

“With this donation to Sleep in Heavenly Peace, we are not only providing physical comfort but also instilling a sense of belonging and security in the lives of children facing adversity,” said Rummel. 'In giving, we receive the greatest reward of all—knowing that we've made a positive difference in the lives of others.'

Founded in 2012 by Luke and Heidi Mickelson in Twin Falls, ID, SHP has been transforming young lives one bed at a time, ensuring that no child has to sleep on the floor. To learn more and get involved, visit shpbeds.org.
