Dripping Springs passes budget for fiscal year 2021-2022

The Dripping Springs City Council approved the fiscal year 2021-2022 operating budget of $21,087,693 in expenses.

The council balanced the budget with no increase in the property tax rate, keeping it at 19 cents per hundred dollars of assessed valuation. This same rate is expected to generate more in property tax revenue during the coming fiscal year due to new properties either built or annexed into the city.

The budget includes several transportation and park improvements. Some of the highlighted projects include:

Transportation

This budget provides over $775,000 in roadway maintenance, repair, and construction. The city has committed an additional $775,000 towards major transportation improvements, bringing a total of $1,550,000 in road improvements.

Parks

Over $113,000.00 in park improvements is slated to be completed in 2022. This is funded by parkland dedication fees paid by developers to be used in developing park facilities.

Wastewater

The budget provides for the city to operate its wastewater utility system in-house. This is a first for the city, whose system was previously operated through third party contractors. The change is intended to allow for more oversight and added safety for citizens.
