Dripping Springs graduating Girls Scouts awarded college scholarships

Dripping Springs/Wimberley Girl Scouts in partnership with Dripping Springs Community Foundation has announced two graduating girls, Zoey Gordon and Cadence Housmans, have won 2021 Girl Scout Scholarships. Girls are selected based on leadership, service to community, and personal character. These girls represent that which is excellent in our youth, anticipating from these girls great works and achievements ahead.

Zoey Gordon, graduating from Dripping Springs High School, has been accepted to the University of North Texas and tentatively intends on majoring in film production and music theory. Zoey has an active interest in dance and music. Zoey has long been an inspiration to the girls in her girl scout troop, showing respect and enthusiasm on all occasions. Zoey has been awarded a $500 scholarship for her outstanding work and character.

Cadence Housmans, graduating from Lake Travis High School, has been a member of Dripping Springs/Wimberley Girl Scouts since first grade, and been an active in community service projects for several years. In school, she has been an active member of the Lake Travis Dance Team, National Honor Society, and school musicals. Cadence has been accepted to Texas A&M Marine Biology program, wherein she hopes to contribute to understanding the impacts of Global Climate change on the marine environment. Cadence has been awarded a $1000 scholarship for her studies.

Dripping Springs/Wimberley Girl Scouts is the premier leadership development organization for North Hays County area girls, developing confidence, courage, and the necessary character traits of young women of notable leadership distinction. Dripping Springs/Wimberley Girl Scouts operates in partnership with Dripping Springs Community Foundation to provide for this valuable scholarship program for our area Girl Scouts, in order to grow Dripping Springs and Wimberley girls into leaders for the future.
