A Proclamation was awarded to the Dripping Springs Mountain Bike Team at the Nov. 12 Dripping  Springs City Council public hearing. The Team received praise and recognition as Dripping Springs Ranch Park & Event Center’s “2019 Volunteers of the Year.”

In turn, the Team presented a photo-inscribed plaque to the DS City Council in appreciation of the City’s support by partnering with them in community efforts which enhance opportunities for mountain biking. DSRP Manager Lynne Dickenson gladly accepted the plaque to hang at Ranch Park headquarters.

The Team has served the DSRP for over three years, volunteering in many capacities, but most significantly as coaches in collaboration with the middle and high school mountain biking teams to design, build and maintain the park’s bike trail. The 5.6 mile single track loop trail is rated easy to intermediate, with an ascent-descent of about 184 feet. It’s ranked #213 in Texas.

The DS Team consider their activity a family sport, and parents and friends volunteer to coach the school teams, all riding and racing MTBs at some level.

“The City Council calls upon all residents of Dripping Springs to express appreciation of the the DS Mountain Biking Team for the impact they have made at the DS Ranch Park & Event Center and in the community,” states the proclamation. It also encourages other community members to volunteer their services to make Dripping Springs a better place to live and work.
