“Over the next few months, the City of Dripping Springs will continue to make changes to its ordinances that will directly affect contractors and developers,” the press release said.

The City of Dripping Springs will hold a “Development Code Update Open House,” on Tuesday Nov. 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at City Hall, 511 Mercer Street. All contractors and developers doing business with the City are encouraged to attend.

“Over the next few months, the City of Dripping Springs will continue to make changes to its ordinances that will directly affect contractors and developers,” the press release said. The purpose of the open house is “to help communicate the changes that have already been adopted and provide information related to those to come.”

Beginning at 11 a.m. on Nov. 12, the City’s Planning and Development Department will give a broad overview of the Development Code changes that were adopted in September and will give a status report on upcoming Ordinance revisions including those to Water Quality Protection, Exterior Design and Parkland Dedication.

The department will also share a draft of the new City of Dripping Springs Development Manual. This is the first time the city has put together a comprehensive development manual. The open house offers contractors, engineers and developers a chance to give face-to-face feedback on the guide and other changes.

Lunch and Q&A for Planning and Development Updates will be at noon.

At 1 p.m., the City’s Building Department will go over changes in adopted codes, including Building, Plumbing, Electrical and Fire. Many of the current building codes that were adopted in 2012 will be updated.

At 2 p.m., a Q&A and feedback session on those new adoptions will be held.

The Development Code Update Open House is geared specifically for contractors, engineers and developers, but is open to all.

Anyone wishing to attend must RSVP in advance. To RSVP, email your name and company affiliation to Megan Chamberlain, in the City’s Building Department, at [email protected]. Attendees can also register by going to the Building Department section of www.cityofdrippingsprings.com. Lunch will be provided.

Questions and requests for more information on the event can also be sent to Chamberlain via her email (listed above), or by phone at (512) 858-4725.

A draft of the  Development Manual and other documents related to the open house will be posted on or before Tuesday, November 5, on that same section of the City’s website, so those planning to attend can review the documents in advance of the open house.
