City election filings begin

Candidate filing began on Wednesday Jan. 16 for the upcoming City of Dripping Springs City Council Election of May 4. Interested candidates can file for Place 1, Place 3, and Place 5 of the council. City council members are elected at-large and serve two-year staggered terms.

Applications for placement on the ballot will be accepted at Dripping Springs City Hall, 511 Mercer Street, in the City Secretary’s Office from Jan. 16, to Feb. 15, during normal business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Applications can be picked up at City Hall in the City Secretary’s Office.  

Qualifications for seats on the City Council are:

• Resident of the State of Texas for at least one year prior to filing deadline; and resident of the City of Dripping Springs for at least six months prior to the filing deadline.
• At least 18 years of age or older.
• Registered voter of the City of Dripping Springs by the filing deadline.

Currently serving on the council for Place 1 is Taline Manassian; for Place 3, Bill Foulds (Mayor Pro Tem); and Place 5, Travis Crow.
