City Council approves annexation of Robinson Parcel
The Dripping Springs City Council held a special public meeting at City Hall on March 5 to discuss and approve a City Ordinance for voluntary annexation of the Robinson parcel of land west of town. The petition was accepted in December 2018, and two public hearings were held this past February. It was approved (5-0) at the meeting.
The private property consists of 14.018 acres of land and is located north of U.S. Hwy 290 between Farrell Lane and Bell Springs Rd. across from Bunker Ranch. In order to ensure the annexed land was contiguous and adjacent to existing City Limits, a .891 acre portion of Hwy 290 right-of-way was joined to the remaining 13.127 acres.
During the same meeting, the DS City Council also approved (5-0) the adoption of a Resolution supporting state legislation (HOUSE BILL 2544) which allows voluntary annexation of non-contiguous property (not adjacent to city limits) in the extraterritorial jurisdiction, if a property owner requests it. The City also supports any amendment to increase or eliminate population requirements, in the Resolution.
A Legislative Review Committee was created to review pending state legislative bills, such as HB 2544, which are in-line with the City’s previously adopted Legislative Priorities Resolution. The members include: City Administrator Michell Fischer, Deputy City Administrator Ginger Faught, Mayor Pro Tem Bill Foulds, and Council Member Taline Manassian.
