City becomes NOAA Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has accepted the City of Dripping Springs as a Weather-Ready Nation (WRN) Ambassador.
The WRN Ambassador initiative is an effort to formally recognize NOAA partners who are improving the nation’s readiness against extreme weather, water, and climate events. As a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador, the City is committed to working with NOAA and other Ambassadors to strengthen national resilience against extreme weather.
To be officially recognized as a WRN Ambassador, an organization must submit an application and commit to:
- Promoting Weather-Ready Nation messages and themes to their stakeholders;
- Engaging with NOAA personnel on potential collaboration opportunities;
- Sharing their success stories of preparedness and resiliency; and
- Serving as an example by educating employees on workplace preparedness.
As a WRN Ambassador, the City will continue to work to keep our community better informed and prepared, helping to minimize or even avoid the impacts of these natural disasters.
“Becoming a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador aligns with the work the City is doing through the Emergency Management Department and its Emergency Management Commission,” Roman Baligad said, Emergency Planning Coordinator for the City of Dripping Springs. “Emergency Management encompasses prevention/mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. So, we’re pleased to partner with NOAA and have Dripping Springs contribute to building a Weather-Ready Nation.”
