Reimers Ranch Observatory

See the heavens at Reimers Ranch Observatory, located at 23610 Hamilton Road. Programs start at 9 p.m. and continue to approximately 11 p.m. (Reservations Required) “Come and learn about the universe while viewing it with your own eyes. We operate two large telescopes, one 25-inches in diameter and another 15-inches in diameter. Observatory staff will discuss the science behind what we see, as well as tell some of the ancient stories of star lore. We use laser pointers to show you the constellations, planets, points of interest in the Milky Way, and even satellites passing overhead. Cinderella around the world

Discover 10 of the hundreds of “Cinderella” folk tales that have been identified around the world, at the Dripping Springs Community Library, Monday July 9ththrough Friday July 13, each day from 2 p.m. to 3:30p.m. Cinderella-like stories exist throughout time and cultures. In fact, some tales can be traced back over 2,000 years! Join Linda Woodward and Diana Bell in this unique around-the-world trip, and it only takes a week! This colorful workshop will combine reading comprehension with cultural diversity and awareness along with thought provoking discussions. Star Party at Westcave Preserve Outdoor Discovery Center

Tour the night skies at Westcave Preserve, 24814 Hamilton Pool Road, Round Mountain—a dark sky location convenient to Austin. Star Party nights are an ideal opportunity to enjoy an evening gazing at the stars through a high-quality telescope. Pirate Day

All things pirate abound today at the Dripping Springs Community Library. Join in the revelry and discover pirate stories, pirate treasure and pirate adventure for children of elementary and middle school age. The Pirate Day Party will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This will be a come and go event. Parents, you control how long your pirate time is to be. What to expect? A pirate in costume, a great photo opportunity. Also: games, tattoos, pieces of eight and maybe a treasure map to follow, a pirate snack, eye patch making and wearing? Will Parker Performs

Will Parker will perform at the Dripping Springs Community Library (DSCL) on Wednesday, July 25, at 3 p.m. Parker is a children’s songwriter and teaching artist. During Will’s whimsical and interactive shows, he plays guitar and harmonica and sings songs that open us up to the world of imagination while simultaneously validating the human experience. Library Summer Club Reading Parties

The Dripping Springs Community Library will wrap up its summer reading with prize parties. Each party will have simple snacks, games, and the announcement of the winners. The parties will be as follows: Ages 0-3: Tues, July 31: 11–11:30am Ages 9-12: Wednesday, August 1st at 5:30-6:00pm Ages 6-8: Thursday, August 2nd at 4:00-4:30pm Ages 4-5: Friday, August 3rd at 11:00-11:30am Please contact the library for more information at (512) 858-7825. Hill Country Shootout

The St. Martin de Porres Knights of Columbus will hold their annual Hill Country Shootout, a sporting clay competition and fundraiser, on August 18, at the Hog Heaven Sporting Club, 24905 Ranch Road 12. Proceeds of the event will directly support charitable activities in the community. The 24-station event will hold competitions for top men’s, women’s, and junior shooters.
