Austin Java Dripping Springs permanently closes

Austin Java, announced on August 4, they were permanently closing three of their locations including Dripping Springs. “It’s been a rough few months for us,” the company posted on their Facebook page. “Today, we close the doors to our City Hall, Met Center and Dripping Springs locations permanently.”

Austin Java has been a part of Austin for 25 years. In a statement to the Dripping Springs Century News, the company noted that they plan to continue the legacy for years to come, even with the recent closure of three locations. “2020 will not be the end of this beloved Austin brand, no, Austin Java will be here to stay,” the statement reads.

In 2018, Austin Java went through a branding refresh, bringing some fresh colors and design to the legacy brand. In 2019, the brand was operating at six locations and was on the hunt for additional locations. Then the global pandemic hit and put all growth efforts on hold. “We switched gears and focused on Carryout and Delivery starting March 17th,” Derek Herweck said, Austin Java VP of Operations. “We even offered a small selection of pantry staples to try and generate additional business and meet a need for our guests. We did the best we could for as long as we could but ended up having to make some very difficult decisions,” he continued.

“We have confidence in the brand and have plans to find new locations post COVID-19. Austin Java has some of the most loyal supporters and we look forward to rebuilding,” Herweck said. Austin Java will continue to operate its Menchaca location at 5404 Menchaca Rd, seven days a week 7AM-2PM.
