“Monster Trucks bring people into town,” park manager Lynn Dickinson said. “That is what the Center was built for.”

Due to the projected high noise level at the Dripping Springs Ranch Park and Event Center, the Dripping Springs City Council was asked to weigh-in on approving the city’s first “Monster Truck Wars.”

“Monster Trucks bring people into town,” park manager Lynn Dickinson said. “That is what the Center was built for.”

Following a lengthy discussion of the particulars, and whether the Monster Trucks should be allowed a second evening show (based on advanced ticket sales), City Council approved just one afternoon event, on Saturday Oct. 26 between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

“Monster Truck Wars is a national touring family motorsports company which produces and promotes 40-50 shows a year,” stated promoter Ron Woodbridge in the company’s operational overview description sent to Dickenson. “We have an impeccable safety record, and we insure that all spectator seating areas are properly secure and safe.” The report also states that based on the dimensions of the DS Ranch Park arena, their show will work perfectly.

Park manager Dickinson assured the City Council that the company provides its own dirt, and removes it when the event is over.  “However, they would like to store it at the park in anticipation of another show next year - and years to follow,” Dickenson said. The company also requested a water truck or trailer for dust control, with access to an on-site water source.

The show features Best Tricks, Wheelie Contests, Racing, Monster Truck Freestyle, and side acts such as Team Quad Wars, FMX Xtreme Freestyle Riders, Legends Car Racing, Clown Acts, and Rides in the Monster Trucks.

Tickets go on sale ($10, $12, $15) approximately four weeks before the show, all general admission seating, except for a limited supply of VIP seating available at an extra cost. There will be a ticketed pre-show Pit Party, available as well.

Show audiences are generally made up of families, drawing 40% from children ages three to ten, and generally 1,200 to 1,500 spectators are projected per show, according to an operational overview written document Woodbridge provided to Dickenson.

“Monster Truck Wars” has recently performed in the Texas communities of Henderson, Robstown, Glen Rose, and Graham.
