Good Trouble Candlelight Vigil for Democracy

"The League of Women Voters of Hays County  is organizing a Good Trouble Candlelight Vigil for Democracy on the one-year mark of the passing of Rep. John Lewis to celebrate his extraordinary legacy and call on Congress to pass critical legislation to protect the freedom to vote, end gerrymandering, and get money out of politics to realize Rep. Lewis’ vision for a democracy that works for all of us. America is at a crossroads. Hays County residents are invited to join us for the Good Trouble Vigil for Democracy on Saturday, July 17, joining a nationwide appeal to the U.S. Congress to act and protect our freedom to vote and rebuild our democracy. “Empowering voters and defending democracy for all is our mission. Honoring the work of Rep. Lewis in ‘keeping the most powerful nonviolent tool or instrument that we have in a democratic society,’ is to defend access to the ballot box,” said Teresa Carbajal Ravet, President of the LWV Hays County. We will gather at 7:30 PM at the MLK-LBJ Sculpture, 110 E. Martin Luther King Drive in San Marcos at the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and S. LBJ Drive."
