Let’s get back to the basics

We live in a place where we enjoy – on most days – the gift of living in a small town. For me, this means we still are privy to the basics. Some call these basics “smalltown values” – values like hard work, loyalty, sharing, helping our neighbors, honesty and respect.

Recycled treasures create garden beauty

Recycling is popular in today’s society, but the idea rarely conjures up visions of beauty. Mention the word and your first thought may be the aluminum can depository or even the blue tubs you place at the curbside for pick up. It seems wherever I go savvy gardeners are making treasures out of items that most of us would never think of including in a garden.

Lest we forget...

Now that Texas is “totally open,” meaning we’re back to pre-COVID business-asusual all over town. Masks are permitted but are not required. More tables are in place in restaurants. Bars are open. So are farmers markets. All services are available as usual and we are all free to crowd into small spaces as much as we like.
