Three DSHS students qualify for International HOSA competition

Three Dripping Springs High School students in the Health Science program qualified for the HOSA international competition after their performances at the state level.

Natalie Chavez placed first in Prepared Speaking while Trevor Burk and Tirth Patel placed in the top 10 percent in the Healthcare Issues Exam. Chavez qualified for the international competition for the second straight year.

HOSA is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. HOSA's two fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA's goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership.

In total, DSHS qualified eight students for the state competition with Ella Smith (Physical Therapy), Makenna Blakesley (Medical Spelling), Cassie Argento-Bird (Veterinary Science), Mia Perez (Extemporaneous Writing) and Connor Johnson (Healthcare Informatics) also competing.
