The Nutcracker comes to Dripping Springs

Dripping Springs and surrounding communities can revel in the magic of the holiday season when The Nutcracker comes to the DSISD Performing Arts Center on December 16, featuring local dancers. Tickets are on-sale now for this unique 2021 performance.

Ballet students from Central Texas Youth Ballet in Dripping Springs, in collaboration with students from The Dance Academy and Ballet North Austin in Leander, will dance the timeless tale of Clara and her beloved Nutcracker on the stage of the Performing Arts Center at the

Dripping Springs High School on December 16 at 7:00 pm. Some 95 dancers comprise the cast of this extraordinary production.

The Arts Alliance of Central Texas, a Dripping Springs-based nonprofit, is sponsoring the event. AAoCT’s purpose is to fund, cultivate, educate, and increase the presence of the arts in the Central Texas Hill Country by providing art education, art activities, and artistic entertainment.

This story combines Tchaikovsy’s unforgettable score with classical ballet choreography to tell about a magical Christmastide evening when Clara receives a wooden nutcracker as a gift from her iconic Uncle Drosselmeyer. Dreamy adventures ensue as Nutcracker comes to life and battles a terrifying rat king. Together, Clara and Nutcracker visit the lands of snow and sweets, encountering dancers from foreign lands and the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Even for viewers who have seen this time-honored holiday ballet before, this production will delight with new dancers and sumptuous costumes right here in Dripping Springs.
