House passes Rep. Williams' bill to empower veteran entrepreneurs

The Veteran Entrepreneurship Training Act of 2021, co-led by Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25), passed the United States House of Representatives last week.

The bill, passed on Tuesday, Nov. 2, codifies the Boots to Business program: a two day, inperson entrepreneurship program that provides transitioning service members and military spouses’ information about business ownership and selfemployment for five years. The B2B program is offered by the Small Business Administration as part of the Department of Defense’s Transition Assistance Program.

“In light of National Veterans Small Business Week, I am proud to empower our Nation’s veterans through increased access to entrepreneurship resources and training,” said Congressman Williams.

“While serving in the military, our veterans made great sacrifices to protect and defend this country, and it is our responsibility to ensure they are equipped to pursue their business goals once they transition to civilian life. I am confident programs like Boots to Business will better prepare our military service members to be successful business leaders and entrepreneurs.”
