Dripping Springs HS graduation set for June 19

The Dripping Springs High School graduation for the class of 2020 has been set for Friday, June 19, at Tiger Stadium. The ceremony will include COVID-19 related safety measures, such as social distancing.

The Dripping Springs ISD press release said, “Graduation originally was scheduled for May 29, 2020. The extra few weeks [allowed for] the implementation of structured [COVID-19] safety protocols for attending the ceremony, arrival/departure, personal protective equipment, seating requirements and social distancing. The requirements also include limiting the number of total guests at the cer emony based on stadium capacity. In order to meet the requirement of 25 percent capacity, each DSHS graduate will be permitted four total guests. The event will begin at 8:30 p.m. and tickets will be required. The ceremony will be streamed live for those who are unable to attend.”

In addition to the inperson graduation, several other activities were planned to honor the Class of 2020. These events included “Friday Night Lights,” “Paint the Town,” display of Senior Signs, a senior sunset and fireworks celebration, a “Class of 2020 virtual celebration,” and Senior Awards and Top 10 Celebration.

The press release warned that “Because this situation is fluid and constantly evolving, it is subject to change depending on state and local policies, as well as developments related to COVID-19.”
