NOW- Library Porch-Side Service 

Beginning May 11, the Dripping Springs Community Library began modified porch-side service. “During this time, library staff will be in place from 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. This means that you may put print books, DVDs, and CDBs on Reserve by logging into your library account. You can begin Reserving library materials at 10am, Monday, May 11. You will get the usual notification when the library materials are available for pickup. Bring your library card or driver's license to show when you come to pick up Reserves between 9am and 4pm, Monday through Friday. Please call us when you are at the front door. We appreciate your understanding that after 4pm, we will be cleaning and pulling library materials for the next day and unavailable for delivering your materials to the door. If you are coming to the library, we strongly encourage and appreciate that you wear a mask or face covering and practice social distancing.” DSCL is located at 501 Sportsplex Drive; their telephone is (512) 858-7825.

 

NOW- RED Arena Horse of the Year 

Vote for your RED Arena 2020 Horse of the Year! “All our therapy horses are amazing but only one can be named ‘Horse of the Year.’ The horse with the most donations wins.

Your donation will help support horse care, feedings and vet expenses, these are ongoing even when our services are shut down. Entrepreneurship Boot Camps

Dripping Workforce Solutions has coordinated with Texas State University McCoy School of Business to launch Entrepreneurship Boot Camps. These are for anyone who has a business idea that they want to pursue or for current business owners looking to retool their business plan for the new climate. 10th Annual Round-Up

RED Arena’s 10th Annual Round-Up fundraiser will take place on Oct. 15 and 16, at DS Ranch Park. “Our horse show provides an opportunity for our riders of all ability levels  to compete in fun horse events & be cheered on by our great community. Bring the family, there's no charge to park or enter! Free kids games & prizes, mini horses & petting zoo! Hill Country Living Festival & Rainwater Revival

DSISD School Board Election

The DSISD Board of Trustees May 2 election was moved to Nov. 3, because of COVID-19. The filing period, however, will not re-open. The ballot will remain the same with the five candidates that filed: Lori Broughton, Stephanie Holtzendorf, Ron Jones, Barbara Stroud, and Jon Thompson.

Closures & Changes

 

Five Star ER Closed

The Five Star Emergency Room at 333 E. Hwy 290 (next to the Dripping Springs McDonalds) is closed. A notice at fivestarer.com states, “All Five Star ER facilities are closed.” No other information as provided.

 

DSISD closed for remainder of school year. 

Dripping Springs ISD has extended its closure for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year to comply with Gov. Abbott’s order. “As we have been doing over the past three weeks, DSISD and all seven schools will continue our commitment to providing purposeful learning to all students via a remote platform. DSHS Cancels Senior Portfolio

Dripping Springs High School has cancelled the Senior Portfolio project for the 2019-2020 school year in order to lighten student workload while transitioning to online learning. Students will not need to complete this requirement in order graduate. 

 

The Springs YMCA closed until further notice

The Springs YMCA was closed on March 17, and will remain closed “until further notice.” In an email dated March 17, YMCA of Austin President & CEO James P. Finck announced the closure of all YMCA facilities in Austin, Hays County, and Bastrop County citing health concerns. “We don’t know what the future will bring, but we are committed to reopening our Ys at the very first chance we can and look forward to serving our community,” Finck said.
