NOW- PEC Election

PEC Board of Director voting began May 20, for members in districts 2, 3, and 4. Early voting will remain open through June 12. Candidates by districts are: District 2, Emily Pataki; District 3, Kari French, and Mark Ekrut; District 4, Lee Leffingwell, Kip Averitt, Travis Cox, Kathi Thomas, Joe Pool, and Dan Strack. The District 4 race is being held to fill a vacancy, and the winner of that race will serve a two-year term. Visit pec.coop/elections for more information.

NOW- Library Porch-Side Service

The Dripping Springs Community Library is now open using modified porchside service. “During this time, library staff will be in place from 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. This means that you may put print books, DVDs, and CDBs on Reserve by logging into your library account. You can begin Reserving library materials at 10am, Monday, May 11. You will get the usual notification when the library materials are available for pickup. Bring your library card or driver's license to show when you come to pick up Reserves between 9am and 4pm, Monday through Friday. Please call us when you are at the front door. We appreciate your understanding that after 4pm, we will be cleaning and pulling library materials for the next day and unavailable for delivering your materials to the door. If you are coming to the library, we strongly encourage and appreciate that you wear a mask or face covering and practice social distancing.” DSCL is located at 501 Sportsplex Drive; their telephone is (512) 858-7825.

NOW- U.S. Census Bureau Field Operations

Vote The U.S. Census Bureau, in coordination with Federal, State and local health officials, will begin a phased restart of some 2020 Census field operations in select geographic areas this week, including Hays County.

As part of the phased restart of operations, the Census Bureau will resume dropping off 2020 Census invitation packets at front doors of households in areas where the majority of households do not receive mail at their home. . The Census Bureau has ordered face masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer for all field staff, including those who work in the field offices. For ACOs, the Census Bureau has also ordered disinfectant wipes.

NOW- Austin Zoo is Reopened

The Austin Zoo re-opened on May 29, a push back from the original plan to re-open on May 18 due to an executive order by Gov. Abbot, which specifically addressed zoos. The zoo will be using certain social distancing guidelines, including use of face masks and online ticket purchases only (no walkins). Concession stands and restrooms will be closed during the re-opening. 10th Annual Round-Up

RED Arena’s 10th Annual Round-Up fundraiser will take place on Oct. 15 and 16, at DS Ranch Park. “Our horse show provides an opportunity for our riders of all ability levels to compete in fun horse events & be cheered on by our great community. Bring the family, there's no charge to park or enter! Free kids games & prizes, mini horses & petting zoo!
