First Responder Breakfast

Alexis Pointe Senior living will be holding a first responder appreciation breakfast on Thursday Feb. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., at its main dining room, 14390 River Ranch Road 12, in Wimberley. “The breakfast is free in their honor.” For more information call (512) 842-4152.

Star Party Westcave Preserve

The Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center will host a “Star Party,” on Saturday Feb. 15, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. “Enjoy an evening of star gazing through a high-quality telescope with local astronomers on hand to answer questions. Firefighter Fitness Class

The North Hays County Fire Rescue Department will hold its annual “Firefighter Fitness” class at DS Ranch Park on Saturday Feb. 15 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Firefighters and their equipment will be on hand to walk attendees through the different physical activities their jobs entail. Chamber Luncheon

The Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly luncheon on Thursday Feb. 20,  from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at The Terrace, 2600 E. Hwy 290. The lunch will include a presentation “State of the District,” by DSISD Superintendent Todd Washburn. The meal will be catered by Hays City Store, and a Sweet Talk Dessert will be sponsored by Texas Heart & Vascular. Wild Game Dinner

The Dripping Springs United Methodist Church will hold its annual Wild Game Dinner on Saturday Feb. 22 at Dripping Springs Ranch Park Event Center. “Enjoy an all-you-can-eat feast featuring a variety of wild game entrees along with a nearly endless selection of sides and desserts.” Doors will open at 4 p.m., “Kid Zone” will open at 5:30 p.m., and the dinner will start at 6 p.m. A live auction will begin at 7 p.m. To purchase tickets, or for more information on charities supported by this event, visit https://dswildgamedinner.com .

Democratic Candidate Forum

A coalition of Democratic groups will host a 2020 Democrat primary candidate forum on Sunday Feb. 26, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center, 14068 Ranch Road 12, in Wimberley. The event will include Democrats candidates seeking election to various levels of government from local, to state, to federal.

SciDive Grand Opening

The Science Mill’s grand opening of SciDive, a new 4D virtual reality experience, will take place on Saturday Feb. 29. “Put on SciDive’s immersive VR headset and use your arms to control the full-body motion table; suddenly, you’re a sea turtle, exploring your coral reef home.” The grand opening will coincide with the Science Mill’s 5th Anniversary, and a one-day screening of “Our Blue Planet 3D,” and “The Last Reef 3D.” The special day will also have door prizes for visitors. Primary Voting

The primary election for both Democrats and Republican parties will be on Tuesday Mar. 3. Early voting will begin on Tuesday Feb. 18, and end on Friday Feb. 28. The last to register to vote in the primary is Monday Feb. 3.

 

April 4

Burke Center Mad Hatters Gala

The Burke Center for Youth will hold its “Mad Hatters Gala” on Saturday Apr. 4 at HHS, 12495 Silver Creek Road. “Journey down the rabbit hole for a night to remember with dinner, drinks, a live auction, and great entertainment.” Proceeds will be used to buy furniture for the new dormitory at the Burke Center.
