Cross country in final warmup

Getting a head start on the district meet, the Dripping Springs cross country teams entered the Seguin Invitational. It is here that District 26-5A will hold their meet on October 14. It was a good meet for the final tuneup as all four teams fared very well. The varsity and JV girls won their divisions and the boys varsity and JV were copycats as well but for third place finishes. Three of the boys varsity runners were missing from this meet. In cross country, places are determined by adding the finishes of your top five finishers. The JV girls had a perfect score.

Tigers blowout Lehman Lobos

Thanks to the Tiger defense, the Lehman Lobos' improving team was put back to square one with what looked to be a very easy 59-0 win to keep DS undefeated on the season. It is hard to show improvement when you are playing a team as strong as Dripping Springs that holds you to 42 total yards. They caused and recovered three fumbles. On the other side, the Tigers were firing on all cylinders.

Lady Tigers top Canyon in five

The Dripping Springs- Canyon matchup was certainly all that it was hyped to be. The tense battle for district supremacy went to the absolute limit as the Lady Tigers would climb into a tie for the title with a 3-2 win. They are both tied with 9-1 records and most likely the season will end that way. DS has also beaten them in a tourney. Since they will probably meet again in the playoffs, a district playoff game is unlikely. First things first. They must navigate through the likes of Kerrville Tivy 8-2, Alamo Heights 6-4 and Boerne Champion 4-6 to get there.

Varsity cross country setting personal records

The Dripping Springs varsity squads took part in the McNeil Elite Invitational cross country meet held at the Old Settlers Park course in Round Rock. Teams that were invited had to meet time requirements. The top teams around the state look to get into this meet because the course they will run is also the site of the state meet held there in a few weeks. The varsity girls competed with 19 teams in the Gold Division while the boys were up against 24 teams in the Silver Division. The Lady Tigers finished fifth trailing Lucas Lovejoy (5A), Colleyville Heritage (5A), Boerne Champion (5A) and Prosper (6A). Of course they will be battling Boerne Champion from district to state. Six of the nine Lady Tigers accomplished lifetime bests for the 5K. The Tigers finished 13th.
