The fun is in the guessing game

A couple of weeks ago we mentioned the guessing game that goes on every two years when the UIL does a realignment process with the schools within their jurisdiction. First, each school turns in their enrollments. Then the UIL will announce the schools that fall into each classification, usually in December. Finally around February 10, the UIL will announce the district assignments.

DSMS Girls basketball starts season

The DSMS girls basketball teams got their season started with games with Hudson Bend. It was a good start as the Lady Tigers took three of four games. Coach Lauren Martens and her 8A team won 41-6. Coach Carley Norment and the 8B squad won 32-6. Coach Millie Hogg and her 7A team suffered a 33-12 defeat. Coach Morgan Benthin and the 7B team won their game 18-14.

Lady Tigers spiked at regional

The journey back to the state volleyball tourney was blocked by district champion New Braunfels Canyon in the regional finals. Last year the Cinderella trip to state from a third place district finish found the Lady Tigers loaded with experience and a favorite to return. NB Canyon was not about to relinquish their top spot this time around even though the Lady Tigers had taken two of the previous three matches. Canyon was much like the Georgetown football team playing the Tigers. They had lived a full year with this heartache and were not about to suffer for another year.
