As has been the strategy in district play each team has one ace pitcher and the coaches decide to not pit them against each other and hope to get lucky. Dripping Springs split with Bowie, Lake Travis and now Westlake to give them a 9-3 record and second in district. Lake Travis took both from Bowie and Westlake. So the Tigers will become the first seed in Division II and will match up with Vista Ridge in Bi-District play.
In the first game, the Tigers would go through seven pitchers without success. The Chaps wasted no time in scoring five runs in their opening inning and matched that again in the fourth. The Tigers battled back with single runs in the third and fourth, plus another pair in the sixth but it would be too little too late in the 10-4 loss.
The second game, at home, was turned over to the Tiger ace, Blake Cox. As has been the case all season, he took care of business by shutting out the Chaps while his teammates gave him plenty of backing with their bats and gloves to carve out the 10-0 victory.
