Dripping Springs and surrounding communities can revel in the magic of the holiday season when The Nutcracker comes to the DSISD Performing Arts Center on December 16, featuring local dancers. Tickets are on-sale now for this unique 2021 performance.
Following the Civil War, school in Dripping Springs, a small village in Texas Hill Country, 25 miles west of the state capitol in Austin, was conducted by soldiers who had fought for the Union. School was held only three or four months of the year, and while there were only a few settlers in the region, there was much displeasure about the school’s abbreviated schedule.
Farmers want to get rid of them, landscapers want to plant them, and this time of the year we sing about them. No doubt about it though native holies are at the top of the list for the landscape.
Recently I was given the task of writing a garden piece on the topic I wish I had. Sounds like a writer trap, doesn’t it? Though I am still writing that piece I will tell you I wish I had planted more Luminary phlox last spring.
