Each year all the Dripping Springs track members that qualify for events are entered at the Texas Relays. This is to give them added experience of what it will be like when they earn a spot at the state meet a month later. Dripping Springs took some of their best and got to compete with the best. It was one of the last steps to be taken before competing in the District 26- 5A district meet on April 12-13. Tomorrow all the track teams will be competing in the Unicorn Relays at New Braunfels.

Lady Tigers on a roll
Two more district wins set the Lady Tigers up with a tough three-game stretch that will go a long way toward deciding the standings. DS had two straight shutouts to put them solidly in second place with a 6-1 record. They were able to shutdown Lehman 10-0 and Seguin 5-0. Last Friday they faced Kerrville Tivy and then due to the number of district games, a Saturday game with Hays Johnson. No doubt, the game the Lady Tigers are pointing to most will be the rematch with NB Canyon at DS. This one took place last Tuesday. Lehman was held in

Time stops Tigers’ chances at track meet
It has usually been the weather interfering with the track meets. This time it ended up being UIL rules. Dripping Springs went to the Hays Track meet and were in good shape to make a run at the title. However, the meet was going a little slow and it ran up against the UIL rule that no new event could start after 10 p.m. on a school night. So the meet had to be halted with the 1600 and 1600 relay not being run, leaving the Tigers in second place and the Lady Tigers third. These were definitely money races for the DS teams and whether they would be enough would be debatable. Nevertheless, what is not debatable is the 400 Tiger relay team continues to lower their record.

DS Track meets competition head on
After missing out on their own meet, the Dripping Springs track teams moved into a very tough level when they joined 14 other schools in the Round Rock Invitational. It had some of the better track schools in the area. When you get in a meet like this points are difficult to come by and split among the top individuals. Depth does not help unless they are really good. Mostly one is pushed to their limit producing personal bests and allows one to compare where they are out in their training.
