Tiger basketball on a winning streak

The Dripping Springs High School Tigers took the mandated Christmas break and used the Hays ISD Classic as a springboard to the second half of the basketball season, achieving an 8-10 record and 2-3 in district play.

The Tigers were able to breeze through the tourney taking Hays (52-38), Lehman (62-34), Hendrickson (58-48) and Connally (60-43) High Schools. This put them in a good mood to take on Del Valle High School. It was a strange game with neither team showing much energy. The Tigers trailed 1514 after one and had eked ahead 25-23 at the break. The Tigers held their two-point advantage 41-39 after three. Threes by Austin Moore and Jaxson Reagan in the fourth were the deciding points in the 56-47 victory.

The 3-3 record in district is good for fourth place. It is unlikely the Tigers will come away with wins in the second half against the top three schools — Lake Travis, Johnson and Westlake High Schools — but there is no reason they will falter in the race for fourth against the others.
