Delores E. Walker

Delores E. Walker, 81, lef our world and walked into the arms of sweet Jesus on May 1, 2021 at her home in Dripping Springs. Dee was born November 28, 1939, in Charleston, West Virginia to Noble and Murrell Jenkins and was the second of three children.

Dee accepted Jesus as her savior at the age of 13 and later sang gospel songs on the radio. She also enjoyed directing church choir. Dee attended Charleston Business School and at the age of 17, she became pen pals with a special young man in the USAF. Letter after letter, month after month, and soon an engagement ring was mailed directly to Dee. Joe remembers he pro posed to her 10 days after they met.

On June 20, 1959, Dee married her pen pal and love of her life, Joe Lee Walker at Faith Gospel Tabernacle in Charleston, West Virginia. Their life together took them through 20 years of service in the USAF while being active in local churches wherever they were stationed. After retirement, they spent another 41 years together enjoying family and celebrating God. Dee and Joe joined the First Baptist Church of Dripping Springs in July 2019. This June would have been their 62nd wedding anniversary.

Dee is survived by her loving husband Joe Lee Walker, children: Michael Walker and wife Pia Walker, Winters, CA; daughter Michele W. Mori and husband Bruce Mori, Drip ping Springs, TX; sister Shirley McCarter, Cocoa, FL; three grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded into God's Kingdom by her parents Noble and Murrell Jenkins and sister; Janet Mollett.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 17, 2021, at First Baptist Church of Dripping Springs at 11:00 am. followed by a private service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.
