On November 8, 2023, Hays County Commissioner Walt Smith presented Patriots’ Hall of Dripping Springs with $1,500,000 courtesy of the 2020 Parks and Open Space Bond. This check was used to cover the mortgage payoff and fund various site improvements. Commissioner Smith and Patriots’ Hall Founding Board Member, Kathryn Chandler, celebrated the accomplishment by touring the construction sites of the future gathering hall and wellness center.
The Hays County Food Bank works hard to tackle food insecurity year round, and this holiday season is no different. The Food Bank is providing residents in need with the ingredients necessary to prepare a Thanksgiving meal at home. As some food distribution got underway Monday with a call out for volunteers to pitch in this season, the Hays County Commissioners Court recently proclaimed November 2023 as “Turkeys Tackling Hunger Month.”
With interest in competitive robotics booming, Dripping Springs is about to be home to a new team, “Recoil Robotics”, mentored by a group of local teachers and professionals with combined experience exceeding four decades in the FIRST Robotics Competition and over 100 years in education and industry. Membership is open to all interested 14- to 18 year olds in the local area, regardless of school affiliation, providing an opportunity for homeschooled or private school students from Dripping Springs, Austin, Bee Cave, Lakeway, Buda and Wimberley to design, build and program robots to play in FIRST Robotics Competition events.
Texas State University announced it will not sell University Camp—a 126acre oasis in Wimberley with over four miles of hiking and biking trails and views of the Blanco River that is available to university alumni, students and staff.
