Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival to take over downtown

Staff Reports The ninth-annual Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival will offer music lovers the up-close and personal chance to see, hear and get to know talented performers this weekend.

Fans of words and music will walk the streets of downtown Dripping Springs from Oct. 2022 to hear their favorite singer-songwriters tell the tales of their songs and the stories behind them. The town itself is the venue, and the bars, restaurant, cafe and tasting room are the stages for songwriters from across the country. All stages are free to attend and are set up as “listening rooms.”

Forty-six extremely talented songwriters will play “in-the-round,” Nashville-style, on eight intimate stages located at The Barber Shop, Mazama Coffee Co, Acopon Brewing, Sidecar Tasting Room, Hudson’s on Mercer Street, Dog ‘N’ Bone, Haus of Jayne and the courtyard at The Warehouse District. Most of the stages are outdoor and open-air, and all are within safe, easy walking distance of each other in the quaint Historic District of downtown Dripping Springs.

Performances run continuously on Friday and Saturday from noon to evening, and on Sunday, the festivities include a spirited Gospel Brunch Showcase at Hudson’s on Mercer Street, followed by the ever-popular Festival Final Jam from 1-5 p.m. Parking is plentiful and food and drinks will be available at each venue. Admission to all the showcases is free.

Since the Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival was founded in 2014, it has proven to be one of the most successful events in Central Texas. Visitors of all ages come to hear great music and meet the musicians in a listening room atmosphere.

Last year’s evening Headliner Showcase featured an Ovation guitar live auction that helped the Songwriters Festival with their mission of music education by providing guitars and guitar lessons to the Burke Center for Youth. This year’s Headliner Showcase, featuring Radney Foster, will also feature a guitar live auction to continue guitar lessons for the boys.
