Free Admission to Veterans at Sea World

Beginning May 24 through July 4, 2018, U.S. veterans and up to three guests may enjoy free admission to SeaWorld San Antonio as well as other SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment properties across the U.S. This new offer joins the ongoing Waves of Honor program that offers complimentary admission to any U.S. active duty military, activated or drilling reservist, or National Guardsman once per year, for the military personnel and as many as three direct dependents. Veterans must redeem their complimentary single-day ticket(s) online at www.WavesofHonor.com, and the free tickets are available online only (not available at the front gate for each park).

Thirsty Thursday Poets

“Sky” is the Open Mike theme for June’s gathering of Thirsty Thursday poets here in Dripping Springs. Brady Peterson from Belton, TX, will be our featured poet, and admission is free to all ages. Find us in the Council Chambers at Dripping Springs City Hall, 511 W. Mercer Str. From 7 to 9 p.m. on June 21. Blood Drive

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office is teaming up with “We Are Blood” (formerly the Blood Center of Central Texas, in hosting a blood drive at the Dripping Springs HEB on Saturday June 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

PEC Annual Meeting

PEC will have it’s annual meeting on Saturday June 23, at Smithson Valley High School, 14001 Texas 46, in Spring Branch, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The press release said, “We invite you to attend this day of family fun, including door prizes, food, activities and exhibits. Members of districts 1, 6, and 7 will also elect district directors. Learn the election results, get caught up on our accomplishments over the past year and take a peek at the exciting developments we have in store moving forward.” PEC voting districts are printed on your electric bill. This is a change from previous at-large elections. For more information on PEC’s 2018 election, visit pec.coop/election.

Vacation Bible School

Sunset Canyon Baptist Church will hold its vacation bible school, called “Game On,” Mon. June 25 –Thurs. June 28. Classes are from 8:30 am – noon for all four days, and the program is aimed for 4 year-olds up to fifth graders.sunsetcanyonchurch.org, or call (512) 894-0480.

Precinct 4: 4th of July Celebration

Hays County Precinct 4 will hold an early Fourth of July celebration on Tuesday July 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 195 Roger Hanks Parkway. Hot dogs, chips, refreshments, and desserts will be served. The public is invited.

All are invited to come play, laugh and sing as we experience the physical, social, emotional, and mental benefits of this Mind, Body, Soul Series. Your instructor, Carla Daws, has been enthusiastically teaching exercise and yoga for more than 7 years in the Texas Hill Country.
