Precinct 4 Commissioner Ray Whisenant announced on Tuesday, October 24 that he will not seek reelection as Hays County Precinct 4 Commissioner.

“I think that two terms is enough. I want to devote time to my wife and family, and devote some time to personal pursuits. Hopefully Hays County is a little better for my service,” Whisenant said shortly after Commissioners Court ended.

“I know some friends will be disappointed that I’m not running, but I hope they’ll understand that I think it’s time for me to step down. My main goal will be to finish things as well as I can, so that the new commissioner has that advantage,’ Whisenant said.

Whisenant was elected as Hays County Commissioner for Precinct 4 in November of 2010, after he retired from 36 years in the water industry. He had also previously served for nine years on the Dripping Springs Independent School District Board of Trustees.
