Using their good depth, the Dripping Springs swim team swamped all competition in the District 18-5A meet hosted by the NE ISD in San Antonio. Although most of their times did not threaten any school records, the two 200 Free Relay teams did set school records. The top four finishers in the district meet qualifies them for the Regional meet. It will be held at College Station this week.
The future of the Lady Tigers (6-7) basketball playoff hopes is still just too close to call as they split another pair of games. They have three games to play with Lehman, Seguin and Kerrville Tivy, all winnable. Tivy (4-5) is the other opponent in this quest and not all of their games have been reported. With the three games remaining in the district, the standings are thus. Canyon 13-1, Boerne Champion 11-2, Veterans Memorial 9-4, Tivy 4-5, DS 6-7, Seguin 1-5, Hays Johnson 1-5, Lehman 1-7, Alamo Heights 0-11.
The two Dripping Springs soccer teams are making waves in the soccer world. They are competing in a new district this year and it appears it will be a bit stronger than in the past two years. When you have a strong program, this is a good thing. After their first two games with probably the top two contenders, both are sitting on top with very exciting wins over New Braunfels Canyon and Boerne Champion.
The DSMS Lady Tigers played their last game of the season when they hosted district counterpart, DS Sycamore Springs. It was obvious that one of the items they included in their traveling bags was a broom because they took out those brooms and swept Sycamore Springs in all four games. Because of COVID, the MS teams only played each district school once for a total of six games on the season. The Lady Tigers 8A team carved out a 5-1 record. 8A won 53-15; 8B 35-18; 7A 30-13; 7B 38-23.
