Like all the other sports, basketball has been provided a strange year to contend with. Covid-19 took away the comfort zone of having routines to follow. Instead of a stable timetable, it was always an unknown as to whether one could practice or play games as scheduled.
The Dripping Springs Tigers kicked-off its 2021 season a week late due to the winter storm, but looked like a younger version of the 2020 team. They took on St. Johns out of Houston (0-2) under the lights last Friday beating them 15-4. The Tigers went right back to work on Saturday against Episcopal Houston (1-2) eking out an 11-9 win.
The ice storm split the start of the Lady Tigers softball season. They had participated in several weeks of scrimmages before having to take off for the storm. The storm had also delayed the first district game and cancelled an early tourney. It is unusual to start your season off with a district game but the number of teams in the district and rules made it happen.
The weather allowed for all three of the golf teams to see action. The varsity boys played in the 36-hole Bastrop tournament played on the Colovista and Wolf Dancer courses. They were also in an 18-hole tourney held at Plum Creek and sponsored by Regents. The Lady Tigers entered the Marble Falls tourney that was played on the Lakecliff and Hidden Falls courses.
