Lady Tigers hit playoff trail

The regular volleyball season ended last Tuesday and the Lady Tigers will be the number two seed from District 26-5A. This means Dripping Springs will play the third seed from District 25-5A. At this time it will be either Liberty Hill or Cedar Park with 10-3 records. Rouse leads at 12-1 and Leander fourth at 8-6. Last year the Lady Tigers started from the third seed spot and ended up in the state tourney. The goal is still the same.

Golf season underway

All of the golf teams in the program have been able to play at least several rounds to begin the new season. The varsity boys played in the Lake Travis and Vandegrift tourneys. The Lake Travis tourney was a 54-hole tourney with the first round played on the Roy Kizer course and the other two at the Jimmy Clay course. The varsity girls entered the Hays tourney played at the Plum Creek course. It was an 18-hole tourney. The JV boys played in two 18-hole tourneys. They played in the Westlake tourney played at Lions Municipal and the Hays tourney at Plum Creek.

Cross country strives through weather

It was a difficult time as the Dripping Springs cross country teams prepared for the District 26-5A meet at Seguin. First of all, on the appointed day the area had torrential rains that inundated the course and closed some schools. So it was postponed until the next day and was run in the middle of hot, humid weather. Certainly a different running atmosphere than expected. Everyone had to run in it so that equals out from that standpoint. The Lady Tigers had been running second behind Boerne Champion all year, so that finish was not unexpected. The boys finished fifth in a tight race. The JV girls dominated their division and the JV boys finished fifth. The varsity girls get to move on to regionals (see page 1), as well as Brant Melton and Austin Wolfe who finished in the top ten to earn a trip to regional as well. The regional meet will be held at Corpus Christi.

Harlandale falls to the Tigers

The Dripping Springs Tigers did their part to set up the major battle with Hays Johnson Friday night as they controlled the competitive Harlandale Indians to win 52-14. This matchup will have two undefeated teams going at it for the inside track to the title. Both teams are 8-0 on the season and should test the capacity of Tiger Stadium for the 7:30 pm kickoff.

Lady Mules stop Lady Tigers title run

The Lady Mules of Alamo Heights stubbornly held the Lady Tigers at bay to win 3-2 and put a monkey wrench in the plans of Dripping Springs to take or share the district title. NB Canyon and Alamo Heights knocked DS out of the running last year and looks they will do the same again this year. DS finishes up the district schedule next week with Lady Tigers probably being the second place entry in the playoffs. They disposed of Veteran Memorial in three to keep pace.
