The Tigers basketball team is in the midst of riding a 5-game winning streak and expecting to stretch that to seven as district ends. DS has moved into second place alone and will most likely play Leander in the bi-district round. Wins over Lehman 45-32, Seguin 76-46 and Kerrville 53-41, should be followed with victories over Hays Johnson and NB Canyon, both at home.

No one doubted the game with Tivy would be spirited. For years they have proved to be a very competitive opponent that did not like losing to us. Game did not disappoint. Aidan Bailey got the game started with a three and his 10 points would propel the Tigers to a 17-7 advantage after one. DS would make it 21-7 before Tivy began to claw their way back as the half ended 26-22.

It was nip and tuck throughout the third. Each time Tivy would threaten to take the lead, the Tigers would repel the attack and remain ahead. Tivy pulled to within four (34-30) with 1.40 showing and then made it 37-35 after three. Had the ingredients to an exciting finish until Jayden Guevara took it upon himself to take charge for 12 points in the quarter. The Tigers went on a 10-0 run to start the quarter and the excitement was over. The Tigers worked the inside well as evidenced by the 17-23 night. They added a 5-23 from the three.

Guevara has been very instrumental in the success of late as he has in the midst of a hot streak. He led the scoring in the wins over Lehman and Seguin. Lehman hung in there for most of the game and Guevara's 24 points provided the glue. The Tigers led 12-8 after one, 27-20 at the half and 37-26 after three. It was a fast start at Seguin and the Tigers never let up.

It was 17-11 after one and a complete blowout in the second for a 38-14 halftime score. It did not get any better after three 62-27.
