Tigers putting the ball up for wins

Ice, liniment and slings should be in demand after each game for the Dripping Springs High School Tigers.

The basketball team’s run and gun offense has the team putting up in the area of 100 shots per game. Of course, Coach Swannack divides his squad into three teams and they substitute in every 30 seconds or so to take some of the strain off the arms. In the past week, the Tigers went 4-0 with 3 wins in the Cornerstone Christian tourney plus New Braunfels Canyon. They are now 5-1.

The Tigers lost a scheduled tourney and were able to get in the Cornerstone tourney. It provided one game a day which was fine with Coach Swannack. They opened with San Marcos Home School and came away with a 91-72 win. They had a total of 98 shots with 35 made. Next, they played Newman International Academy and won 81-43. They had a 32-74 night (12-41 from three and 20-33 from two). In the finals, they played another Newman International Academy team and beat up on them 8329. They hit 33-105. 1156 from three and 22-49 from two.

Canyon was not prepared for the pace of the game. DSHS jumped out to a 29-4 margin after one. The Cougars came back strong in the second and narrowed the gap at half to 49-29. The Tigers stayed with the pace with a 23-12 margin in the third and a 15-13 fourth to take the 87-54 win.
