Tigers basketball wins two in a row

As the season winds down for the varsity Tigers it is a case of “too little, too late”. They got too far behind to have time to catch up. DS has played much better of late but they find themselves trailing fourth place by three games and only two left. You can do the math. They are 11-7 on the season and 7-7 in district. Left are games with Hays Johnson and NB Canyon and will be completed by the next edition.

It was a good run in the last two as the Tigers downed Lehman 38-24 and Seguin 62-46. Against Lehman DS played their low score game. The Tigers led after one 10-7 but knuckled down to shutout the Lobos in the second to make it 24-7 at the half. DS had seven points in each of the final two quarters.

Seguin was the last home game for the Tigers and it was definitely one of their best efforts. A solid scoring performance led by Layne Herington and teammates kept putting pressure on the scrappy Matadors. DS kept adding to the deficit in each succeeding quarter. It was 12-9 after one, 28-18 at half and 45-30 after three. The Tigers were 17-29 from two, 5-20 from three and 14-22 from the line.

Vs Lehman: Herington 9, Jaxon Reagan 8, Davis Budge 6, Maddox Bloomgren 5, Cade Brunson 5, Luke Spozio 3, Jack Williams 2.

Vs Seguin: Herington 26, Isaac Rivera 9, Brunson 8, Reagan 7, Bloomgren 6, Dylan Ducharme 4, Budge 2.
