Tiger Soccer team hosted tourney
The Tigers soccer team played and hosted their own tourney. They had a very successful tourney as they came away with three wins and a tie. They traveled to Marble Falls to take on one of the better teams in the area and former district rival. To promote the game, the MF coach bought a trophy and dubbed the game as the “Hill Country Championship”. As the final seconds ticked off the clock the score read a 3-3 tie. Because of the trophy it was agreed to hold penalty kicks and it took the second round for MF to gain the trophy. The Tigers presently have a 4-1-5 record.
Vs Salado: The Eagles did not know what hit them as the Tigers scored three in the first half and two more in the second to blank Salado 5-0. Max Gonzales would get the initial goal with an assist from Gabe Molander. That was followed by a goal by Juan Galindo and assist by Eli Sass. Gonzales finished out the first half with a goal, assisted by Galindo. Galindo and Gonzales reversed roles to get the next goal and the night was finished by Ethan Robert with a Galindo assist.
Hutto was next on the menu. Ken Gossett would get the lone Tiger goal in the first half 1-1 tie with Jair Ortega getting the assist. It would be all DS in the second half as Galindo and Sass would get goals with Gonzales assisting to make the final 3-1.
After a scoreless first half tie with Taylor, Galindo would get a goal with an assist by Molander. With time running out, the Ducks would manage to tie the game with a goal of their own.
Leander Glenn would also give the Tigers all they could handle. This game would also be tied at 0-0 after one half. With an assist by Gossett, Gonzales was able to nail the goal for the 1-0 victory.
Vs Marble Falls: Desi de la Cruz got a goal in the first half on an assist by Colin McCraw to have the half end tied at one. DS would go ahead 2-1 on Ortega's goal, assist by Galindo. A 35 yard blast by Gossett sent DS back ahead at 3-2. With 17 minutes remaining MF made the most of a penalty kick to tie the game where it remained until the end.
