Tiger Band Invited to Perform for TMEA

The Dripping Springs High School Tiger Band, under the direction of Derek Woods, has been invited to perform for the 2021 TMEA (TExas Music Educators Association) Clinic/Convention, held virtually, Feb.11-13, 2021. Ensembles invited by TMEA demonstrate the highest level of achievement in music education. It is only through the genuine commitment and collaboration of every student and director involved that an ensemble achieves this honor.

The selection was based on an audio recording submission of the 2018-19 Wind Ensemble that earned fourth place in the TMEA Honor Band competition. The concert video that will be shared by TMEA during the Virtual Convention will feature the 2020-21 Wind Ensemble, joined on certain pieces by Symphonic and Concert Band students.

Throughout its 100-year history, the TMEA Clinic/ Convention has offered music educators professional development clinics and inspiring performances by elementary through university ensembles. Most recently, the TMEA convention welcomed more than 31,000 attendees, including 11,000 music educators.

Hundreds of ensembles applied for selection as a 2021 TMEA Invited Performing Group. Being selected to perform for the largest music educators convention in the nation is an exceptionally high honor.

DSISD assistant band directors are John Pearson, Jason Dye, and Amanda Petro.
