Thursday night softball ends

SPORTS

There was very little drama as the Thursday night adult softball league drew their season to a close with an end-of-the-season tourney. Four teams were left to vie for the championship. The two undefeated teams, Sons of Pitches and Dripping Royalty, went at it to become the team with the edge in the double-elimination tourney. League champion SOP held an 8-4 lead after two but Royalty pushed across 8 in the third to take a lead they would not relinquish in the 15-12 victory. In the first elimination game, both teams struggled for runs but in the end the Zeros edged T-Baggers 6-4.

This put the Zeros in a matchup with SOP for the next elimination game. SOP came out hot amassing 11 runs in the first two innings and closed out the Zeros season with a 14-3 win. This provided a rematch game between Royalty and SOP for the championship. SOP would have to win twice to take the title. The Royalty failed to score in their first at bat and SOP followed with two. However, Royalty would strike back in the second for 16 and added 9 more in the third to stop the game after three due to run-rule 25-2.

Royalty roster: Cody Ross, Nick de la Cerda, Trey Ross, Reno Malay, Eddie Villarreal, Ryan Slaughter, Austin Kent, Luke Guerrero, Trevor Ragsdale, Colton Odell, Braden Fickel, Landon Ross.
