Tennis sends players to state
Once again the Dripping Springs tennis team will send players to the state tourney to compete for state titles as a result of their play at the regional tourney. They will be sending a boys and girls doubles team to state as second place finishers while the other boys doubles and a girls singles are waiting in the wings as alternates by virtue of their third place finishes. The mixed doubles team was stopped at the quarterfinals round. The Region IV tourney was held at the San Antonio Blossom Activity Tennis Center.
Girls singles: Tallulah Andrushko (3rd): won 6-0, 6-0; lost 6-1, 6-4; won 6-1, 6-3; lost playback 6-1, 6-2.
Girls doubles: Karley Higgerson/Whitney Robins (2nd): won 6-3, 6-2; won 7-5, 6-2; won 6-2, 6-1; lost finals 6-0, 6-1; won playback 7-5, 7-5.
Boys doubles: Will Gretzinger/Jeffrey Walker (3rd): won 6-0, 6-0; won 6-2, 6-2; won 7-5, 6-1; lost finals 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(4); lost playback 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.
Boys doubles: Thane Johannsen/Henry Lovelace (2nd): won 6-2, 6-1; won 6-2, 6-2; lost semis 3-6, 6-0, 6-3; won third 7-6(4), 6-7, 6-1; won playback 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.
Mixed doubles: won 6-4, 6-3; lost 6-1, 6-1.
