Sudden rain disrupts adult softball

The Thursday league had their number of games cut in half when one team failed to show and play their schedule.

Just when it seemed the adult softball league had escaped the worries of inclement weather, a 15-minute cloudburst ruined an otherwise perfect playing day. The Monday night games were wiped out and will be made up after the regular season. Tuesday night went on as scheduled but the Baptist Bombers were hit by absentees and could not field a team and had to forfeit to the Shockers and Chronic Offenders. To give those teams games, Fighting Pharmers played a practice game with the Shockers and the Shockers, in turn, played the Offenders in a practice game.

The Thursday league had their number of games cut in half when one team failed to show and play their schedule.

Tuesday league standings: Sunset Canyon Baptist 8-1, Fighting Pharmers 8-3, Slapnut Magoos 7-5, DS Rentals Conglomerates 6-5, DS Electric Shockers 6-5, UnWanted 5-7, Chronic Offenders 3-6, Baptist Bombers 3-9, Misfits 2-7.

Scores: UnWanted continued their improved ways by scoring late and holding off the Conglomerates 8-6. The mysterious ways of slowpitch showed as UnWanted could not buy a hit and fell hard to the Misfits 10-0. The Slapnut Magoos had two tough opponents on the night as they were making their move toward the top. They scored ten runs in the last two innings to shutout the Fighting Pharmers 12-0. Then they took on the number one team in Sunset Canyon Baptist. It did not start well for the Magoos as SCB scored 11 runs in the first inning. However, Magoos answered with seven in their at bat and went ahead 14-12 after four. SCB tied it in the sixth and Magoos had the opportunity to close it out in the seventh when they loaded the bases with one out but could not score. Given a second chance SCB outscored Magoos 5-1 in the eighth to win 19-15. In the practice games, the Shockers broke a tie to win 14-8 over the Pharmers and then eased past the Offenders 11-9.
