Next stop Super Regionals for Tiger Lacrosse

Senior goalie Connor Mogen electrified the rowdy playoff crowd with a thrilling coast-to-coast goal late in the third quarter and sealed the victory.

It was a busy week for the Tigers Lacrosse team. They played three games in five days and earned the Central Texas 4 seed in the Texas High School Lacrosse League Super Regionals. This means the boys from Drip are one of the 12 teams still standing in the Division 1 playoffs. The most important game of the three was against Lake Travis, a team they had never beaten. The Tigers would prevail 6-5 in a battle that ended with the Cavs missing a shot at the horn. Drip Springs would drop games to top-ranked Westlake 8-21 and a heartbreaker to Austin High 11-12.

The Tigers knocked the 6A Lake Travis Cavaliers out of the playoffs and were guaranteed a spot in the final 12. Senior goalie Connor Mogen electrified the rowdy playoff crowd with a thrilling coast-to-coast goal late in the third quarter and sealed the victory. Juniors Cristian Reno had 2 goals and Nic Austin added 2 goals and 2 assists. Mogen and senior Jack Lennon shared the honor of the hammer award for gritty play.

Top-ranked Westlake stormed into Dripping Springs on Friday and showed why they are the #1 team in the State pounding the Tiger squad 21-8. Austin had 4 goals and an assist. Senior Ryan Thomas had two goals against the Chaps. Junior Logan won the hammer.

Drip played Austin High in the game for the 3rd and 4th seeds. Austin High would hold off a surging Tiger attack and win 12-11. Juniors Charles Pouland had 4 goals and Reno had 2 goals and an assist. Junior Pierce added the hammer award to his 2 goals.

Dripping Spring will take a short trip to Georgetown East View stadium to take on Houston-area Kingswood on Saturday at 4PM. The winner will play Highland Park on Sunday in the final 8, the loser’s season will be over.
